On-call
An on-call rotation — one day or one week each —, stand-ins, and the first ring addressed to the person on call when an incident stays unacknowledged.

On this page
When the channel lights up at two in the morning, the question is not “who saw it?” but “who goes?”. The On-call page (Project → Operations → On-call) answers it before the outage: one person on call, known to everyone, notified first.
What PostShip does
The rotation
You tick the members who take the watch, in order; a shift lasts one day or one week; the first shift starts at the instant you choose — a Monday at 9 am, say. The rotation then turns by itself, without end. Eligible people are the project owner and the accepted members of the workspace.
Stand-ins
Holidays, a swapped shift: you declare who takes the watch from this date to that one, a month at most. During that period this person replaces the holder, whoever it is; the list of upcoming shifts shows it split.
The first ring
An incident opens; alerts go out as usual, on your channels. If nobody has clicked “I'm on it” after the set delay — right away, 5, 10, 15, 30 or 60 minutes —, the person on call receives an email naming them, and the channels hear about it. Once per incident. Escalation to the whole team, set in the project settings, remains the second ring: it does not change.
Responsiveness
Over thirty days: the number of incidents, how many were signalled to the person on call, the median time to acknowledgement, and the incidents resolved without anyone clicking — those that fixed themselves, or behind the team's back.
Settings
On the page: the rotation (who, order, length, start, delay, active or paused) and the stand-ins. Paused, the rotation stays written but nobody is notified.
What triggers an alert
An email to the person on call, and a message on the project's channels, when an incident passes the delay without acknowledgement. Nothing if the incident is acknowledged or resolved before.

Troubleshooting
The person on call received nothing
The delay had not elapsed, or someone had already acknowledged the incident — the person on call is only told about an orphan incident. Also check that the rotation is active, and that the address can receive our emails.
It is not the right person
The rotation counts from the first shift, in the ticked order. To shift by one person, change the order; to shift in time, change the instant of the first shift. A stand-in comes before everything.
A member left the workspace
They stay in the rotation until you untick them: the page signals it by no longer offering them in the list, and the next save drops them.
